i'm not sure how to word it.

obviously there are rats that are not 'human' rats as such. but are there rats that just never get even used to humans? i have a biter that i got about 4 months ago and to be honest, i keep my hand clear. i open their cage door and her and her sisters come out to play, i put her sisters back in (when i am moving around the floor keep my feet away from her!! ) and to get her back in i usually tempt her into a tube or an igloo and quickly put it into the cage. if i let her, she just bites me as hard as she can.

anybody got rats like this?
she is the first to still BITE like this, this much!

Is it possible that rats prefer human females, or human males? Our girlsdefinitely prefer me and my two daughters, and although they are friendly and my hubby loves them they just aren't the same with him and can be a bit wary?

A few of our friends came for dinner on Monday and a few are coming this Sunday as well, and on Monday they seem to prefer the female guests that handled them and be wary / test nibble the men.

Is that a girl rat thing, or are out girls just like this ?

Is it normal for non pregnant rats to nest so much LOL?
Dais Dais is constantly at it. Anything she can, she'll nest with! She clears the base of bedding sometimes to bring bedding into her hammock. It's a bit annoying as the bedding drops onto the floor a lot of the time Is it normal or is she not happy with the bedding I'm using? It's carefresh, by the way.

The babies are obviously now bigger, but the girls are being little brats to eachother! They literally grab big mouthfuls of eachother, and pull back. It looks sore, and most of them have bite marks/tiny bits of blood on them. Can we stop them doing it and why are they doing it?

Do rats have nightmares and dreams?

Can rats dream and can they have nightmares?

I went to the cage this morning and Eliza woke up with a jump, and her eyes were like O_O so wide... she was freaked. She jumped out the hammock and ran to the igloo. Was a bit funny to see, sorry Eliza!! , but there was no noise and the other rats were sleeping, to cause that to happen.

I wondered did she have a bad dream?

Bored rats, how do I entertain them?

I need some advice on how to keep my girls entertained.

They get 'free range' time every single day without fail, because if my daughters don't get them out, I do, if I don't get them out, my daughters do.

When they are out they have a super time. We lock our dog in my bedroom which is fine, she sleeps there anyway, and the girls cage is in the living room, so they have the run of the living room, hall, and stairs. The doors at the top of the stairs are closed apart from the bathroom. Big playspace to run around in, and they enjoy it. Once we hunt them down and put them back home, they still usually want back out, but we give them a treat and generally turn the lights off (it is after our human dinner they get out, they eat just after us and when we feed them their door is left open for them to run out).

I've noticed during the day they are getting bored in the cage. They've got an igloo, a hanging rope which they completely ignore, a treat stick that attatches to the bars, and two small hammocks in corners (corner hammocks).

They just seem to ignore the rope, now the hammocks, and they used to play in the cage, with eachother hopping around, but now they have stopped doing that completely.

Does anybody know what sort of things might amuse them in cage?

Thanks.

I feel very guilty because of my remaining ratty girl Candy, who is left alone since Remy died
Candy hasn been a human friendly rat, and she gets stressed very easily. Since Remy is gone, Candy sleeps all days and doesn want to spend time with me - when i take her out she gets stressed and scratches me or tries to escape, to run around.
We hav tried to let her out in the living room, where she used to run around with Remy. When they were out together Candy would follow Remy and play with her happily. Now, she hides away and doesnt go out. She made two big holes on the back of our leather sofa in which she hides and snozes wherever i let her out ! imagine how happy John was to discover the holes in furniture, bitten cables o his stereo, distroyed Wii remote controls ........ ever since she was out on her own she caused distractions in the house - which she didnt used to when Remy was around ..............

I found also hard to find food Candy would eat. She eats hardly any rat food, and she became extremelly choosy. She would only eat chocolate, dry pasta, nuts, cereals. She used to eat the same food as Remy did when they were together
I do know that Candy misses her friend very very vry much and her behaviour changed so much since we lost Remy !
I want Candy to b happy, bt it becomes quite hard i buy her baby food and feed it to her twice a week cos she loves it, bt i give her as much hard food as i cn cos i dont want her teeth to grow too long.

Candy is now 28 months and very healthy, bt not happy as she used to b

here is some oldie pic of my candy, she is sooo beautiful
